What are Minor Surgery Services?

'Minor Surgery' services are under a separate contract with the NHS.

They include:

  • Joint injections
  • Minor surgical procedures

Both can be booked after consultation with your GP or MSK physiotherapist.

Note: There may be a waiting list for these services.

 

What Type of Things are Classed as Minor Surgery Procedures?

Procedures covered by the minor surgery service are:

  • Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC's)
  • Sebaceous/Epidermoid Cysts
  • Dermatofibromas
  • Lipomas (<5cm diameter)
  • Cryotherapy for solitary actinic keratoses

Procedures that are not covered and will need onward referral are:

  • Skin biopsies
  • Shave and cautery of benign lesions
  • Any other cosmetic procedures
  • Cryotherapy for warts or verrucae
