What are Minor Surgery Services?
'Minor Surgery' services are under a separate contract with the NHS.
They include:
- Joint injections
- Minor surgical procedures
Both can be booked after consultation with your GP or MSK physiotherapist.
Note: There may be a waiting list for these services.
What Type of Things are Classed as Minor Surgery Procedures?
Procedures covered by the minor surgery service are:
- Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC's)
- Sebaceous/Epidermoid Cysts
- Dermatofibromas
- Lipomas (<5cm diameter)
- Cryotherapy for solitary actinic keratoses
Procedures that are not covered and will need onward referral are:
- Skin biopsies
- Shave and cautery of benign lesions
- Any other cosmetic procedures
- Cryotherapy for warts or verrucae
