Services - The Arnewood Practice
Specialised Clinics
The practice believes that prevention is better than cure, and is therefore pleased to offer a wide range of Health Promotion Clinics. The following clinics are available regularly and run by our team of Practice Nurses. For many conditions we annually invite patients, by letter, to make an appointment for the clinic, usually in the month of their birthday.
- Respiratory - a weekly clinic is held for COPD; asthma reviews can be booked throughout the week
- Children's Immunisation & Health Surveillance - weekly clinic; letters are sent from the child health clinic when immunisations and checks are due
- Diabetes - weekly clinics are held and invites sent
- Chronic Heart Disease, Stroke and Hypertension - weekly clinics are held and pateints will be invited annually
- NHS Health Checks - patients aged 40 - 74 will be invited for a health check every 5 years, if they do not have an existing condition whereby they are already invited to a clinic
- Flu Prevention - clinics available in the autumn - look out for the advertised dates
- Teenage Immunisation - letters will be sent when these are due
Contraception / Sexual Health
Full contraceptive services are available, including implant and coil fittings, and post-coital contraception. We also offer pre-conception care.
We currently have 2 GPs who undertake implant and coil fittings - these GPs are Dr Rycroft, Dr Miles. Please contact reception to make an appointment with your doctor to discuss your care.
Minor Surgery
Most of the doctors are qualified to perform minor surgical procedures from a fully equipped Treatment Suite. Please discuss with your own doctor.
Phlebotomy
A full phlebotomy service is provided at the surgery offering a wide range of morning and afternoon appointments. We also offer a appointments and a limited walk-in clinic on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month between 8 - 9am.
Blood forms can be given to you if you wish to travel to the hospital to have your blood taken there.
Other Services
Community Nurses: The community team provide a range of services for housebound patients and those recently discharged from hospital. They can be contacted between 8:30am and 5:30pm Monday-Friday on 01425 623802. For urgent assistance outside of these hours, you can contact the Twilight Nurses on 0300 121 0175.
Speech Therapy: Available in the New Milton Health Centre by referral via your doctor or Health Visitor.
Hearing Therapy: Available in the New Milton Health Centre by appointment.
Children's Hearing Tests: Available through the Health Visitors.
Limited Dental Service: Available through the Health Dental Clinic, at the New Milton Health Centre.
Red Cross Loans: Various aids for the disabled are available on request, from the Lymington office 01590 672641
iTalk: iTalk provides access to psychological therapies for people in the New Forest as well as the surrounding area. They also help people retain employment through our dedicated Employment Adviser posts, as well as working with other agencies to sign post people to suitable community provision. Children's Phlebotomy: The nearest blood test service for children under 16 is the Butterfly Unit at Southampton General Hospital. This walk-in service is located on Outpatients Level C. Patients must take their blood form with them.

The Arnewood Clinic provides outside services within the practice building. Both NHS and private clinics visit the practice on a regular basis and can be booked directly using the contact details below.
